This version of the the coachman bucktail was developed by John Hazel in the late 1970's. It has become popular on most rivers east of the Cascade Mountains, especially the Deschutes and John Day. This compact fly is good in all sizes and in many water conditions. It is very popular in the smallest size when the water is warm, or as a come-back fly.
