The Skampi (shrimp) as tied by Solitude Fly Company is one of those universal flies for bonefish on tan colored flats, which occur nearly everywhere. Most creatures that spend their lives in shallow saltwater have the ability to change color to match their surroundings, or they are consumed by predators that can see them. Therefore it makes sense to match your fly color with the bottom that you are fishing over. Many times we have seen the wrong colored fly spook fish as soon as it was moved. It didn't match its surroundings and the fish knew it wasn't supposed to be there, so they fled.
