Loop Cross S1 Saltwater Fly Rods
Tony, Josh and Frank helping Mark get ready for a Mexico trip.
On a recent trip to Loreto, Mexico on The Sea of Cortez, we took two Loop Cross S1 (11-weight & 12-weight) fly rods with us, along with a selection of comparable size saltwater fly rods by five other manufacturers. We used all seven rods and caught fish with each one. All the rods worked very well, but the Loop rods really stood out for casting comfort and ease. What is even more interesting is that patty and I have somewhat different casting tempos and styles, but we both enjoyed fishing with the Loop rods more. These rods come in two actions: fast and medium-fast action. Both rods were medium-fast, which is still plenty fast enough to pick up long lines and throw very tight loops, but not so fast as to take all of your concentration. The Loop Saltwater Series display world class craftsmanship, and are durable.
Honeymoon Bay on The Sea of Cortez
As with the new Cross SW Series, saltwater anglers requested slightly faster actioned fly rods for certain flats and bluewater conditions. LOOP listened to invaluable feedback from some of the world's best saltwater anglers and guides to develop a uniform series of fast and medium-fast CROSS SW fly rods. LOOP's designers and development team refined this powerful rod action to meet the full spectrum of saltwater species and conditions from around the globe.
Finished in a deep aesthetic blue, the new SW rods are designed and engineered with LOOP's signature Cross Core Technology System. This combination of nano resin and high tensile carbon provides consistent, exceptional performance from every single rod in the range. Each model features corrosion-free titanium stripper and snake guides as well as our robust CROSS reel seat and superior quality cork handle.
