Residing in Oregon, John Shewey is a life-long devotee to fly fishing, wing-shooting, and other outdoor pursuits. He has penned hundreds of articles and published countless photographs in various magazines and to date, has authored 14 books.
Alec Jackson has this to say in the forward:
"This is a book where text is kept to a minimum while fully explaining those points that need to be explained. On the other hand, the illustrations are detailed. For years I've dreamed of a book like this, one that provides step-by-step color photographs of the methods used to dress most of the patterns presented. Finally, thanks to John Shewey, the book is here and to the best of my knowledge, it is the first book to treat steelhead flies in such a manner."
